BIDEN DELAYS REPORT ON ISRAELI WAR CRIMES TO AVOID CHARGE OF COMPLICITY IN GENOCIDE
May 11, 2024Grace Blakeley, an economist and political commentator, spoke on the BBC’s Question Time on Thursday about US President Joe Biden’s attempts to delay the findings of Israel’s war crimes in Gaza, adding that Israel must be “sanctioned” for their crimes.
“Biden actually said that he was going to indefinitely delay a report into whether or not Israel has committed human rights abuses. Because if that report had found that Israel has committed human rights abuses, IT WOULD HAVE EFFECTIVELY BEEN ILLEGAL FOR THE US TO CONTINUE SELLING WEAPONS TO ISRAEL,” Blakeley stated.
Blakely goes on to comment on the disproportionate Israeli response and their violation of international law.
“Israel has the right to defend itself. Rights come with responsibilities. You have the right to defend yourself within international law.”
Profound! The right to defence does NOT equal a license to ANNIHILATE a people!.
Blakeley was then asked about the UK’s supply of arms to Israel.
“Is it time for our government to STOP ARMS sales to Israel?”
Absolutely, categorically. There’s no question. “You know if international law means anything, as law, it has to be applied indiscriminately.”

English Script:
Grace Blakeley: Biden has now said that he is not going to continue to facilitate weapons sales. What we’re not hearing about is that a few days ago, Biden actually said he was going to indefinitely delay a report into whether or not Israel has committed human rights abuses, because if that report had found that Israel had committed to human rights abuses, it would effectively have been illegal for the US to continue selling weapons to Israel. I think it’s very clear, you know, you’ve said Israel has the right to defend itself. Rights come with responsibilities. You have the right to defend yourself within international law. It has now become clear that Israel has repeatedly broken international law and actually that oftentimes that has been cheered on by people from across the political spectrum.
Host: Is it time for our government to stop arms sales to Israel?
Grace Blakeley: Absolutely. Categorically, there’s no question. You know, if international law means anything as law, then it has to be applied indiscriminately, objectively to different countries. And when they’ve been found to have broken the biggest part of this, which is just don’t commit war crimes, they have to be sanctioned. Arms sales have to be stopped.
