CHILE SLAMS GAZA GENOCIDE! JOINS ICJ CASE AGAINST ISRAEL
June 3, 2024Chilean President Gabriel Boric said on Saturday his country was joining South Africa in its case at the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of “genocide” in the Gaza war.
Speaking to the National Congress, Boric decried the “catastrophic humanitarian situation” in Gaza and called for “a firm response from the international community.”
“Chile will become a party to and support the case that South Africa presented against Israel before the International Court of Justice in The Hague,” Boric said.
The ICJ is considering South Africa’s case, but in the interim has brought in “preliminary measures” ordering Israel to do everything it could to prevent acts of genocide during its Gaza invasion.
The top UN court last month ordered Israel to halt military operations in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where displaced Palestinians are seeking safety from Israel’s military offensive.
Bravo Chile!! More states need to back this and continue to exert pressure against Israel! It’s clear by now: Israel has PERMANENTLY destroyed their reputation on the global stage.

Gabriel Boric: We will always be outraged by the indiscriminate and absolutely disproportionate actions against innocent civilians, particularly Palestinian women and children, being carried out by the Israeli Army. There are already more than 35000 dead, a catastrophic humanitarian situation and the infrastructure in Gaza has been practically razed to the ground. For this reason, in addition to the humanitarian support we have provided to Palestine, the consultation call of our ambassador in Israel and the submission, together with Mexico, of a referral of the situation in Palestine to the International Criminal Court. I have decided that Chile will join and support the case filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice in the Hague within the framework of the UN Genocide Convention.
