Mitchell Plitnick: First of all, if you look at Jewish history, we have a number of different homelands. And actually Judaism developed just as much in Persia and Babylon as it did in Palestine, if not maybe even more. But that aside, clearly Jews have a deep, deep connection to that land. Of course we do, but many nations do. Many nations have called that piece of land home. And for much most of its history, it’s never been exclusively the homeland of one nation. Palestine has been a real and true melting pot for centuries upon centuries. And the Palestinian people today reflect that history. So when people say, well, you don’t want a Jewish state of Israel to exist and all you want is a state of Palestine, therefore, without Jews, that is nonsense. That is exactly, exactly the opposite of what Palestine has been historically. Palestine has been a Jewish home for centuries, along with Muslims, along with Christians along with so many other peoples. And to recapture that history is how we settle this conflict. That history was lost because of Europe, essentially a European nationalist ideology of nationalism.
