ISRAELI CHIEF SLAMS LEADERSHIP SILENCE OVER SETTLER VIOLENCE
July 11, 2024Maj Gen Yehuda Fuchs, the departing chief of the Israeli military’s central command, condemned settler violence in the occupied West Bank.
“Even if the perpetrators are a minority, those who remain silence in the face of their crimes, do not exclude them and their actions from the general rule and thereby introduce criticism towards everyone. This is not Judaism to me, at least not the one I grew with in my father’s and mother’s home. This is not the way of the Torah.”
When you’re own people recognise the wrong you’re doing, it might be time to re-think your approach.

Maj Gen Yehuda Fuchs: Unfortunately, in the last few months, as well as in the last week, nationalist crime has reared its head and under the auspices of the war and the desire of revenge, it has sown chaos and fear in Palestinian residents who did not pose any threat. Even if the perpetrators are a minority, those who remain silence in the face of their crimes, do not exclude them and their actions from the general rule and thereby introduce criticism towards everyone. This is not Judaism to me, at least not the one I grew with in my father’s and mother’s home. This is not the way of the Torah.
