MEHDI HASAN DESTROYS HOST OVER ISRAELI SANCTIONS
July 13, 2024MUST WATCH!
In his element, Mehdi Hasan SLAMS host after questioning the “unequal” condemnation of Israel at the UN, an argument that defenders of Israel commonly use.
“There are lots of U.N. resolutions condemning Israel, I get that. But if you look at actual practical sanctions, there are no sanctions on Israel from Western countries for human rights abuses.”
Mehdi focuses on the reality of the condemnations being only that, condemnation. BUT, despite its horrific human rights record, there are no practical sanctions to pressure this genocidal state out of its actions.
“There are against Syria, there are against Russia, there are against Iran, there are against North Korea. So, no, I don’t think Israel is being singled out, I’d actually like to see sanctions put on Israel, so it’s treated like other human rights abusers.”

Unknown woman: Why is Israel singled out?
Mehdi Hassan: I don’t accept the premise of the question obviously, it’s interesting you should say that Israel is singled out. There’s a little aaarghh going on. Well, if you’re watching this on YouTube, go back on YouTube and see that the first intelligence squared debate I did was not about Israel. I came here a few months ago to talk about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its human rights abuses. So before I even turned up to Israel, I came to condemn Saudi Arabia. And I get it, I get it. There are lots of U.N. resolutions condemning Israel, I get that. But if you look at actual practical sanctions, there are no sanctions on Israel from Western countries for human rights abuses. There are against Syria, there are against Russia, there are against Iran, there are against North Korea. So, no, I don’t think Israel is being singled out, I’d actually like to see sanctions put on Israel, so it’s treated like other human rights abusers. Consistency, single standard.
