Andre: We’re in Qusra in the West Bank, and I’m here with David, who was attacked by settlers. David and I are two different people. I’m Andrey, this is David. So tell us what happened.
David: On Sunday, we were accompanying a local Palestinian farmer and his family in the olive fields in the east of Qusra on Palestinian land, when a group of eight of Israeli settlers came and attacked us. They were carrying wooden batons, metal pipes and throwing rocks at us.
Palestinian: Stop!
David: After the attack, the Israeli army pulled up to where we were. Got out of their vehicle, aimed at local Palestinians and shot live ammunition in their direction. They could clearly see that we were injured. Instead, one of the soldiers laughed at us, cursed and said, that’s fucking funny. And they also failed to go after the settlers who had attacked us. After the attack, we were escorted away in a Palestinian ambulance on our way to the Nablus hospital. We were stopped at a checkpoint, they opened and saw that I was injured. They made us take a 30 minute detour. When it would have only taken five minutes to reach the hospital. This is just an everyday occurrence for Palestinians here in Qusra and across the West Bank. Violence we face as internationals is just a small fraction of what, Palestinians experience every day. Since October, this Palestinian farmer had not been able to access his land because of the threat that the settlers and army are here.
