Rania: Beheaded babies, carpet bombing, torture, rape, forced starvation. And you know what’s more terrifying? This isn’t happening for the first time. What’s happening today in Gaza is a long standing, systematic policy by the Israeli government to terrorize and punish the Palestinian people. And it has a name “Terrorism”, of course, but also the Dahiya doctrine meaning way more firepower and destruction than necessary against civilian populations to deter attacks from resistance groups like Hamas. It’s named after a neighborhood in Beirut that the Israelis bombed heavily back in 2006. The former head of the Israeli military, Gadi Eizenkot, laid out this doctrine in 2008, and that’s exactly what they’ve done in Gaza in 2008, 2009, 2014, and now in the 2023 ongoing genocide, the Israelis have unleashed the Dahiya doctrine. It’s needless to say that the Dahiya doctrine is a war crime, a violation of international law, and amounts to state terrorism against the Palestinian people. A 2009 UN report said that the doctrine is designed to punish, humiliate and terrorize a civilian population. But of course, the international community has done little to hold Israel accountable. They just let them get away with these atrocities over and over again. 76 years of Israel terrorism. Enough is enough.
