August 24, 2024Gaza was briefly addressed on the final night of the Democratic National Convention, as Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, concluded the event with a call for a ceasefire and the immediate return of hostages. Harris reiterated her commitment to Israel’s security, along with the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and dignity.
Harris’s speech came amid protests from thousands of pro-Palestinians rallying against her stance. Convention organizers denied a Palestinian speaker the opportunity to attend and speak, while the parents of Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin were allowed to address the convention audience on Thursday.
