I WAS FORCED TO FLEE LEBANON
September 28, 2024Lebanon is on the brink of all out war, yet again.
In the span of a week, the situation within the country has become frightening and untenable with Israeli air raids across the south, centre and west of Lebanon making no place and no one safe, including me due to my public disapproval of the policies, actions and vengeful attitude of the Zionist Israeli leadership.
I decided to flee Lebanon on Wednesday after a couple of unexpected calls from well informed connections outside and inside Lebanon advising me to leave the country to find a safer environment as my life might be in danger. “It would be easy for the Israelis to say that one of their missiles went astray and you could be their target,” one well-connected, international colleague told me. “You need to get out”.
For the record, I am not a Hezbollah or Hamas supporter or follower. Equally I am not anti-semitic. I respect Jews, Christians and Muslims, as well as people of all faiths, cultures and beliefs.
I do not support any one or any nation/group/organisation/individual commiting terror, genocide, oppression, injustice, aggression, against any other person or group. I am FOR International Law, Human Rights, the Geneva Convention, the Rome Statute and all instruments that try to teach us how to act with humanity first and protect the innocent.
More of us individuals who believe in Intl Law and civilized values need to end our silence and speak out. Way too many people are still sitting silent claiming “this has nothing to do with me” or “this is not my problem”. Actually it is ALL our problem because as long as the majority stay home and don’t march, write emails, call our elected officials to account, etc., the longer and wider this conflict will continue and humanity as a whole will be at risk. That’s not a joke!
END YOUR SILENCE. ACT NOW. HOLD YOUR GOVERNMENTS TO ACCOUNT AND DEMAND THEY IMPOSE SANCTIONS AND END ARMS SALES TO ISRAEL.
