AUSTRALIA REVIEWING MILITARY EXPORTS TO ISRAEL
October 22, 2024Could Australia FINALLY be taking a step in the right direction?
The government is believed to be reconsidering all its arms exports to Israel. This comes after the huge effort of the @theacij in reaching out to the Defence Minister earlier this year, alongside a growing call from the public and movements on the ground around the country demanding action.
We can only pray that the threat of being hauled into the International Criminal Court alongside Netanyahu and his compatriots has put some sense into the minds of Australia’s elected officials but one can never be too sure if they will find a way around this too.
For over a year, international bodies like the ICJ, ICC, and UN have been flagging Israel’s long record of human rights violations. It’s time for Australia to respond to this mounting pressure and abide by the international laws the country signed up to.
We’re calling for a complete arms embargo: No imports. No exports. No transfers. ✊
