Daizy Gedeon Says Farewell to 2025: ‘Thank You for an Unforgettable Memory’

In a year that packed so much horror, disbelief, and sadness globally – and amid my relentless pursuit of truth and dedication to keeping the spotlight on injustice and blatant violations of international and humanitarian law – I determinedly refused to allow the evilmongers who rule our world today to steal my milestone birthday.
In 2025, I turned a glorious 60, and despite the threat of Israeli warplanes and drones hovering overhead, I persisted in hosting a huge birthday bash in Lebanon, on the picturesque Mediterranean coastline.
As the sun set, the warm summer breeze blew, and a large yellow moon spread its glorious glow over the sea. Until dawn was almost breaking, my family, friends, and dear ones – who had travelled from all over the world and across Lebanon to be with me – danced, sang, ate, drank, toasted, and reveled in true joy, laughter, and love as our kindred spirits rose to celebrate all the beauty that life and this world still holds for every human being.
It filled me with great resolve that despite the darkness that tries to oppress us, if we remain faithful to the values and humanity that unite us, our light will overpower the dark, and goodness and justice will rise again.
Farewell 2025, and ahlan wa sahlan (welcome) 2026 – we are ready for you!

في عامٍ حافلٍ بكل هذا القدر من الرعب والذهول والحزن على مستوى العالم, ومع سعيي الدؤوب إلى الحقيقة والتزامي المستمر بإبقاء الضوء مسلّطًا على الظلم والانتهاكات الصارخة للقانونين الدولي والإنساني, رفضتُ بإصرار أن أسمح لمروّجي الشر الذين يحكمون عالمنا اليوم بأن يسرقوا مني عيد ميلادي المفصلي.
في عام ٢٠٢٥, بلغتُ الستين المجيدة, وعلى الرغم من تهديد الطائرات الحربية الإسرائيلية والطائرات المسيّرة التي كانت تحلّق فوق رؤوسنا, واصلتُ بعزيمة إقامة احتفال كبير بعيد ميلادي في لبنان, على الساحل المتوسطي الآسر.
ومع غروب الشمس, وهبوب نسيم صيفي دافئ, وبسط القمر الأصفر الكبير نوره البهي فوق البحر, وحتى كاد الفجر أن يطلع, رقص أفراد عائلتي وأصدقائي وأحبّتي الذين جاؤوا من مختلف أنحاء العالم ومن شتى مناطق لبنان ليكونوا معي وغنّوا وأكلوا وشربوا وتبادلوا النخب وانغمسوا في فرح حقيقي وضحك ومحبة, بينما ارتفعت أرواحنا المتآلفة احتفاءً بكل ما لا يزال في الحياة وهذا العالم من جمال يستحقه كل إنسان.
وقد ملأني ذلك بعزيمة راسخة مفادها أنه, رغم الظلام الذي يحاول قمعنا, فإننا إذا بقينا أوفياء للقيم والإنسانية التي تجمعنا, فسوف ينتصر نورنا على العتمة, وتنهض الخيّر والعدالة من جديد.
وداعًا ٢٠٢٥, وأهلًا وسهلًا ٢٠٢٦ — نحن على أهبة الاستعداد.
