Daizy Gedeon: This is the problem about Lebanon as Ali said before, it’s misunderstood. It’s actually misrepresented. There’s been a lot of misinformation about Lebanon for decades. And it happened to me as a child growing up in Australia, wanting to distance myself from being Lebanese, because anything that I ever heard about Lebanon was very negative and dark, you know, terrorists, kidnappers, warmongers, unsophisticated, backward people, destruction. That was what I grew up understanding Lebanon was, but living with my family, my relatives, my friends was a very different energy and beauty and love and sympathy and all of that stuff. But it was the reason I made my first documentary: Lebanon Imprisoned Splendor, because I wanted the world to see the full picture of Lebanon, and that was in the 1990s. But you know, you’re right. There’s a completeness understanding, and to this day, Lebanese, you know, because of the promotion and the PR campaign focused on Hezbollah. And this has been, you know, a strategic narrative that the West and not all countries but, you know, English-speaking nations, particularly America, Britain, you know, Australia, and you have those countries that are aligned that all consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization. And whereas probably 80% of the world’s countries do not, they’re considered a resistance force, and in Lebanon, it’s a legitimate political party. But because of Hezbollah, it’s been a very easy, you know, easy way for the West to position Lebanon as a terrorist nation or being focused as a breeding ground for terrorists.
