Humza Yousaf, Former First Minister of Scotland: ‘Stop Killing Children!’ – A Call for Justice
January 14, 2025Mr Humza Yousaf, former First Minister of Scotland and Member of the Scottish Parliament provides a sobering account on how the first week of January 2025 has played out for the children of Gaza.
“74 children in Gaza were killed in the first week of 2025, many frozen to death because of the conditions imposed upon them,” Yousaf said.
“Imagine their lips turning blue, their limbs stiffening, their breathing slowing down. What if it was your child?”
The Genocide in Gaza continues. We must not forget nor grow silent or apathetic!

Humza Youssef: Stop killing children. You would think that this would be a rather uncontroversial statement, an ideal that we could all unite around. It is a demonstration of the lack of humanity that exists in our world today, that there are people who, quite unbelievably well, in their warped minds try to justify the killing of children. Less than a fortnight into 2025, and it is far from a Happy New Year for the people of Gaza. In the first seven days of this year, 74 children in Gaza have been killed by Israeli attacks or because of the inhumane conditions forced upon them and exposure to the cold. 74 little children, some young babies who committed no crime have been killed or frozen to death. I want you to close your eyes and picture, just for a second, those children shivering in their tents in the harsh winter conditions. I want you to picture their skin, their lips turning blue, huddled together, in a desperate attempt, in vain for some warmth. I want you to picture their breathing slowing down as their vital organs begin to shut down due to hypothermia. Now imagine it was your child. Imagine it was your son or your daughter. So please keep talking about Gaza. Keep talking about the children of Gaza, and keep bearing witness to the crimes that are being committed. We must continue to demand peace, and I hope to see the day where all of those responsible for such heinous crimes are held to account for the horrors that we’re witnessing.
