Daizy Gedeon: I’m at the Presidential Palace in Baabda in Lebanon, where I’ve just witnessed the first press conference given by the Minister of Information, Paul Morkos. It’s the first meeting of the cabinet in the Presidential Palace where they met the Prime Minister and the President. The Minister of Information gave us the order of the day and the priorities of this Lebanese government.nThe first order of business is to maintain the ceasefire agreement and meet the terms of the withdrawal past February 18th, to ensure that Israel withdraws completely from Lebanon on February the 18th. So all focus is on that, and the second order of business is to come out and work on the cabinet statement. From 4 p.m. today, the cabinet will be meeting and working diligently together to produce the cabinet statement, which will be the main objectives of this government, which has only 14 months to come out and do work for Lebanon. It’s a short term government, because next year the parliamentary elections, scheduled for May 2026, will see a new cabinet being elected and a new Prime Minister, Speaker of the House being elected also. So thanks for joining me. It’s great to be back in Lebanon…and producing more content for you. Thanks.
Paul Morkos: Okay. Go ahead.
Daizy Gedeon: Minister Morkos, could you please tell us what the first objective of this government is following the first meeting of the cabinet today? What is the priorities of this government?
Paul Morkos: Is to make a rehabilitation for the country, and this is the main issue. And also to target the challenges of the country, whether securitarian or for the inside.
Daizy Gedeon: Including you mentioned the 1701, the security…
Paul Morkos: Fore sure. That’s what I mentioned, exactly. And the Israeli withdrawal on the February 18th.
Daizy Gedeon: Is that the highest priority of this government?
Paul Morkos: All are highest priorities at the same time, you have a lot of high priorities.
Daizy Gedeon: Thank you.
