English Script:
Syrian priest: What happened is that today is Sunday, we had a mass, and the church was full, about 350 to 400 people were praying behind the priest. Someone came in through the door and started shooting. The young men rushed at him to get him out of the church, because the church is a sacred place. When they got to the church door, he blew himself up. This explosion, it wasn’t a small one, it was a very big blast, to the point that even the ceiling of the church collapsed. If you ask me what happened after that, I don’t know. All we know is we were collecting people’s body parts and throwing them into cars to get them to ambulances.
Interviewer: How many were there?
Syrian priest: I don’t know. I personally carried more than 20 or 25 people. Those who weren’t injured were helping carry the wounded.
Syrian Woman: This is a religion of love, safety, and peace. Love, we don’t know killing, or slaughter, or theft, or looting. This isn’t Syria. Syria doesn’t deserve this. Its people are full of love and kindness. Muslims, even before Christians love each other. They’re amazing neighbors, We’re neighbors, and we love all the people.
Unknown: Whoever did this is trying to sow division.
Syrian Woman: Where have we ended up? Where were we before? Syria truly is a land of love, safety, and peace. God is protecting it, and God willing, despite everything that’s happened, I’m still one of the few who are truly patriotic. Now people tell me, ‘Take your kids and go to Europe.’ Never. I will never leave my religion, my country, my Christianity, or my people. Never. I was raised here, and here is where I want to die. My religion is a religion of truth and love. We are true Christians, we love the enemy before the friend. We forgive, we love, we show mercy. We have never harmed anyone.
