Keffiyeh Banned in Canada — But Israeli Flag Allowed?
July 2, 2025
KEFFIYEH BANNED. ISRAELI FLAG WELCOME.
“This is Canada, not Israel.”
A Palestinian father was blocked from entering a sports center to watch his own son’s basketball game—
because he was wearing a keffiyeh.
Meanwhile, the Israeli flag? Freely displayed. Zero issue.
What message does that send? Wearing your heritage = a threat. Supporting apartheid = business as usual.
The keffiyeh is not a weapon. It’s resistance. Identity. Culture. And banning it won’t erase Palestine.

English Script:
Unknown man 1: The thing is Keffiyeh and other symbols are not allowed in this place.
Unknown man 2: That’s allowed?
Unknown man 1: I’m sorry?
Unknown man 2: Look at the the screen, that’s allowed
Unknown man 1: I’m sorry? That flag? Yes sir, that is allowed.
Unknown man 2: I’m here to watch my son play basketball, wearing a keffiyeh. There’s no free Palestine.
Unknown man 3: We have a code of conduct, Okay? You are more than happy to read it.
Unknown man 2: Okay.
Unknown man 3: Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to be like this.
Unknown man 2: Like what? Like what?
Unknown man 3: With the Keffiyeh on you.
Unknown man 2: Do you know what a Keffiyeh is?
Unknown man 3: I know what a keffiyeh is.
Unknown man 2: Can you tell me what’s political about this?
Unknown man 3: This one, the keffiyeh is offending the people, it’s offending the public.
Unknown man 2: It’s open to the public. But I also know this is Canada. It’s not Israel. I promise you. Meanwhile, these guys have Jewish flags everywhere in a Canadian place. And they’re telling me this is offensive.
