U.S. Envoy Warns Israel: Uphold Ceasefire With Hezbollah or Face U.S. Pressure – L’Orient Today

As Israel expanded its occupation of South Lebanon from 11km to 14km, U.S. envoy, Tom Barrack, met with Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and congratulated the Lebanese government’s decision to disarm Hezbollah and other non-state actors.
PM Salam insisted now that America must exert pressure on Israel to hold up its end of the ceasefire agreement which it has failed to do since it was signed in late November 2024. Israel must end its indiscrimmate bombing of Lebanon in the south and Bekaa Valley and withdraw its troops from the five points it continues to occupy in the south.
Instead, Israel continues to move further north into Lebanon, in its attempt to fulfil its objective of annexing Lebanese territory and creating Greater Israel.
Hezbollah’s rejection of the cabinet decision to disarm could be well founded considering Israel’s annihilation of Gaza, occupation of the Golan Heights in Syria and now further encroaching into Lebanon.
It is a delicate political and militiary conundrum because Lebanon is damned if it does force Hezbollah to disarm and damned if it doesn’t because the U.S. and world leaders have openly stated they have no control over what Israel does.
I dispute this claim and call on world governments, especially the U.S.A. to sanction Israel and end the supply of weapons to the Zionist state. Only by applying sanctions and cutting off the supply of arms will Israel be forced to the negotiating table and end its massacres of the Palestinians and destruction of Lebanon and Syria!
