Ashna Hurynag: Quite the move, has shut up all of its factories. It’s over 100 shops and its website because they say they are standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
James O’brien: I can’t remember a comparable exercise.
Ashna Hurynag: They have released a statement, the company in which they have said across the Lush business, we share the anguish that millions of people feel seeing the images of starving people in Gaza, Palestine. One thing Lush can currently send into Gaza is our love and a strong message that we stand in solidarity. Stop starving Gaza. We are closed in solidarity.
Mark Constantine: We would like to point out, especially to our government, and to everyone else that, you know, we’re expecting them to do something.
James O’brien: Do you have any idea how big a financial hit you’re going to take as a consequence of doing this?
Mark Constantine: Yeah, I mean, around 300,000 pounds.
James O’brien: And that you feel is a price worth paying to draw attention to?
Mark Constantine: Well, it would be good to be able to pay for food to go into Gaza, wouldn’t it, rather than just sacrifice it?
