December 16, 2025A HERO IS A HERO.
The man who stopped a gunman from killing more people at Bondi Beach was MUSLIM.
Not because of headlines.
Not for applause.
But because when lives were on the line, he acted without hesitation.
This is what courage looks like.
This is what humanity looks like.

Tariq Ra’ouf: So I woke up, like many of us, to the news that there’s been a horrific shooting in Australia targeting Jewish people who were celebrating Hanukkah on one of Australia’s most busiest beaches. And obviously, this shooting is going to reignite conversations about antisemitism and violence towards the Jewish community. But it’s been less than 24 hours since the shooting happened, and already the reporting is avoiding holding Israel accountable for the anti-Semitism that it is responsible for fueling worldwide. One of the most important facts about the shooting is that it was a muslim man who stopped one of the shooters from continuing to kill more people. It was a muslim man that saw this act of anti-Semitism happening in real time, and risked his life to save the other people that were getting targeted. And this Time article is one of the first articles to come out about the shooting, and they mentioned that one of the shooters was disarmed when a man tackled him from behind. But they don’t mention who that man was? Of course, they’re saying that the Jewish community in Sydney has been facing anti-Semitic graffiti and vandalism, especially since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. They even make it a point to say. But it is now glaringly apparent that the public antiwar sentiment has spilled over into local communities. And even at the end of the article, they mentioned the man that saved the people, again saying, the only point of light for Australians is the man who crept up between the parked cars near one of the shooter’s locations and wrestled his gun away. In a day and age where Arabs, Muslims and Palestinians continue to be painted as anti-Semitic. It sure is convenient that you leave out the fact that one of the people that helped saved the Jewish community from being targeted even more was a muslim man. One of the reasons that public anti-war sentiment has spilled into local communities is because people are sick and tired of watching Israel indiscriminately kill civilians during hundreds of thousands of children. And for years now, Israel is saying that they’re doing this in the name of Judaism because they’re trying to conflate Zionism with Judaism. And in conflating Israel’s actions with that of the entire Jewish community, you are going to have people angry at the Jewish community for defending Israel’s actions and defending Israel’s genocide. And it’s really fucking heartbreaking, man, because people are being brainwashed into believing propaganda that Israel actually wants the best for all Jews. But Israel’s actions is leading to situations like what just happened in Sydney. Israel is the number one cause of anti-Semitism worldwide, and until we start recognizing that, real anti-Semitism is only going to get worse.
