Noam Chomsky: Hezbollah Branded Terrorist While U.S. and Israel’s Far Greater Violence Is Normalized
December 24, 2025
Noam Chomsky cuts through the hypocrisy:
“Hezbollah is condemned as a terrorist organization — while far more extreme violence by the U.S. and Israel is normalized.”
Who defines terrorism?
Who gets immunity?
And who pays the price?
When power controls the narrative, violence isn’t judged by scale — but by who commits it.

English Script:
Noam Chomsky: The United States considers Hezbollah a terrorist organization. But the term terrorism is used by the great powers, simply to refer to forms of violence of which they disapprove. So the US was, of course, supporting the Israeli invasions and occupation of southern Lebanon. Hezbollah was instrumental in driving them out. So for that reason, they’re a terrorist organization, and it’s a reflection of the power of the imperial state, the United States and Europe, that they were able to shift the framework so that the problem appears to be Hamas, its policies, and not the more extreme policies of the United States and Israel. And we must remember that in their case, it’s not just policies. It’s not words, it’s actions.
