Australian Senator Mehreen Faruqi Slams Government Complicity in Gaza Genocide: ‘Standing Against Genocide is Not Anti-Semitic’
January 27, 2026
An Australian senator breaks the silence and calls out government complicity in Gaza.
Mehreen Faruqi says what many refuse to:
Condemning mass killing is NOT HATE.
Silence in the face of it IS.
Criticism of a state is not an attack on a people.
Weaponizing antisemitism to shut down dissent is a distraction.
History will remember who spoke
and who hid behind excuses.

Mehreen Faruqi: Standing against the genocide is not anti-Semitic. Being outraged and protesting the killing, starvation and torture of hundreds of thousands of people is not anti-Semitic. Calling for this government to combat racism in all its forms is not divisive. Calling for this government to end its complicity in genocide is not divisive. However, it is divisive to pretend to care about international law while inviting to this country the president of Israel, a state committing genocide in Gaza. It is divisive to design laws that say to all but one community, your safety does not matter. This bill is yet another example of the Albanese government’s authoritarian crackdown on supporters of Palestine. These are indeed dangerous times
