I was there.
In the streets.
Among thousands who refuse silence.
“Say it loud. Say it clear. War criminals are not welcome here.”
What politicians try to bury, people are shouting.
What media distorts, the streets are correcting.
This wasn’t hate.
This wasn’t chaos.
This was clarity.

Daizy Gedeon: I’m in Hyde Park in Sydney, just at the protest protesting the arrival of the Israeli president Herzog to Australia. Massive protests here. We’re about to take the march. But it’s been a huge day. It’s incredible. It’s unbelievable that our prime minister, our foreign minister and the minister of immigration, Albanese, Penny Wong and Tony Burke, have allowed this war criminal to come into Australia. It’s ridiculous, and every Australian should be out on the street protesting his arrival.
Mehreen Faruqi: …it makes me sad to say this, but we are now a country whose political class would rather destroy our democratic, civil, political and human rights than take meaningful action against genocide, against racial and ethnic cleansing. They think that they can stop us talking about Israel and genocide…We are not going to let that happen because the genie is out of the bottle and it is never going to go back in.
Josh Lees: And the other key cause of antisemitism today is, of course, the actions of Israel and people’s mistaken belief that Israel acts in the name of Jewish people in the world… We do distinguish between the acts of a criminal Israeli state and Jewish people in the world. The key people deliberately conflating those things are our government, our media, and our Israel lobby in this country….We condemn the despicable actions of Bondi and we condemn the despicable genocide in Gaza.
Mehreen Faruqi: You don’t fight racism by rolling out the red carpet out for a war criminal. Do you? This is a man found by the UN Commission of Inquiry to have publicly incited genocide. This is a man who autographed bombs used to flatten hospitals, murder children, and destroy entire cities. And yet, Labour and Liberal politicians are falling over each other to justify his visit. War criminals are not welcome here. Prime Minister cancel Herzog’s visit.
