Senators Condemn Use of Fallen Troops in Fundraising
Jon Ossoff sharply criticized Donald Trump over a campaign email that featured a photo of a flag-draped coffin from a military transfer ceremony.
Speaking on the Senate floor, Ossoff called it “a disgrace,” adding:
“The American people need to know that the President of the United States is fundraising for his political campaign… using images of American service members killed in action.”
The email—sent by Trump’s PAC Never Surrender Inc.—reportedly included a White House image from a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base, where six U.S. soldiers killed in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait were honored during Operation Epic Fury. Donation links were placed alongside the image, offering contributors access to “private national security briefings.”
The criticism followed remarks from Mark Kelly, who first raised concerns during the same session.
Meanwhile, Ron Wyden questioned intelligence officials, citing prior warnings that Iran could disrupt oil shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and asked whether those assessments had been fully communicated before the war began.
With at least 13 U.S. service members reported killed since the operation began, the issue has intensified debate over leadership, accountability, and the use of wartime imagery in politics.
