Texas State Rep. James Talarico, @jamestalarico who is also a seminarian, just took a torch to the “religious right” narrative, and he didn’t hold back. In a blistering takedown, he’s calling out the hypocrisy of using faith to justify policies that hurt the most vulnerable.
He slammed the Trump administration’s agenda, labeling the push for mass deportations, the fueling of forever wars, and the obsession with billionaire tax cuts as a literal insult to Jesus. His message is simple: You cannot claim the name of Christ while worshiping at the altar of greed and cruelty.
“Jesus spent his life feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and welcoming the stranger. He didn’t spend it cutting taxes for the 1% or hunting down families for deportation.”
