United States Stands Alone in Voting No on UN Roadmap for Women and Girls
April 13, 2026
For the first time in the 70-year history of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the annual Agreed Conclusions document, a global roadmap for protecting women and girls, was forced to a vote after the United States blocked the usual path of consensus.
The result was a stunning 37 to 1 defeat for the U.S. delegation, which stood as the only nation to vote against the roadmap. Even nations often criticized for their human rights records, such as Saudi Arabia, did not join the U.S. in its dissent, choosing instead to abstain or allow the measure to pass.
It’s a hypocritical betrayal that exposes the true priorities of Washington: power and control over progress and safety.
37 countries chose progress. The U.S. chose to be the obstacle.

Diplomats in New York reportedly erupted in cheers and applause when the U.S. amendments failed, signaling a massive rift between Washington and the rest of the world on the fundamental rights of half the human population.
“”A justice system that fails half the population cannot claim to uphold justice at all.””
