Just weeks after Rima Hassan said she was denied entry to Canada ahead of scheduled events, concerns are growing over further restrictions affecting Palestinian representation.
More recently, Canadian authorities denied visas to at least three officials from the Palestinian Football Association who were due to attend FIFA’s annual congress in Vancouver.
The officials, including the association’s president, were expected to participate in discussions tied to the 2026 World Cup, but were unable to travel after their applications were rejected. Canadian authorities said visa decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and declined to comment on specific cases.
Advocacy groups have criticized the move, raising concerns about access, representation, and participation in international forums.
