Israel’s Yellow Line Strategy in Lebanon Explained

Israel’s military has drawn a new ‘yellow line’ in southern Lebanon – similar to that which divides Gaza – aiming to control parts of Lebanese territory and nearby waters and raising questions over access to the offshore Qana gas field.
Is Israel planning to steal Lebanon’ s maritime resources after advancing into Lebanese territory, destroying its border villages on the pretext of creating a security buffer zone against Hizbullah?
Land grabs or maritime control, Isreal has no legal basis to be on Lebanese territory or any rights to the Lebanese Qana gas field known as bloc 9 to which Lebanon has full exploration rights pursuant to the 2022 Israel- Lebanon maritime agreement which established a permanent sea line 23 to separate the maritime boundaries between the two countries.
