Sonny Bill Williams Breaks Silence on Lebanon Strikes and Journalists
May 1, 2026
All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams has broken his silence on the scary and systematic targeting of civilians and media workers in Lebanon. As a man who has walked through refugee camps and seen the faces of the displaced, Williams isn’t just a sports icon anymore, he’s a voice for the voiceless in a world that’s gone cold.
THANK YOU, SONNY BILL WILLIAMS, FOR REFUSING TO STAY SILENT.
It takes a special kind of strength to stand up when everyone else is sitting down. In the middle of ceasefire talks that seem to mean nothing to the people on the ground, having a global legend like Sonny Bill Williams speak the truth is a massive deal.
Thank you, SBW, for being more than an athlete. Thank you for being a human being who actually gives a damn about the people being erased in Lebanon.
STAY LOUD. STAY BRAVE.

النص العربي:
Sonny Bill Williams: So now the ceasefire has just been broken in south of Lebanon. The scary part about this is that within hours, gunshots were heard, shelling were heard. Reports say that over 2000 people have been killed thus far. Over a million people have been displaced. I think the thing worth noting is that places have been targeted more than once. People are starting to be targeted. Journalists are starting to be targeted. It’s really, really scary because these are the people that have risked their lives to deliver the injustices in what’s happening on the ground in war torn countries, and usually they safeguarded, which isn’t the case anymore. When it comes to Lebanon, it’s not just a country full of Muslims. Lebanon is home to the oldest living Christian civilization, whom have lived side by side as neighbors with Muslims for centuries. The other telling issue, or the part which we should always speak about, is that there’s people in bunkers behind security guards, behind security walls that are calling the shots when it’s people like us that are feeling about many Lebanese brothers and sisters that have people back home that are struggling and they’re affected by the atrocities that are happening over Lebanon right now. We should always understand that we may not be able to change what’s happening on the ground over there, but we can certainly change how we speak about it and how we view it. So, yo, please don’t forget about Lebanon. Alsalam alaykum
