So let’s get into some of the narratives that I was fed. So I was taught that there’s no such thing as Palestinians. That they’re just Arabs, so they can basically live anywhere. That’s why you hear things like, why can’t Egypt take them? Or why can’t Jordan take them? Because we were taught Palestinians don’t exist. We were taught that Palestinian children were training from a young age to kill Jewish people. That Arabs are genetically violent and that we’re taught that Israel is under constant threat, and that the IDF, which is, of course, the most moral army in the world, must kill because you can’t make peace with people who want you dead. So we were taught if anyone criticizes Israel or the Jewish people, that we must immediately label them anti-Semitic because it silences people and it’s meant to immediately shut down the conversation. That’s the ultimate goal. So we were taught that Israel. It’s our homeland. Even if I’ve never visited, it’s mine, that the land belongs to me and that we’re the chosen people. We were taught that Jewish people must marry Jewish to preserve our blood. This was the one narrative that my parents pushed before I even started dating. It was non-negotiable. So these are just a few of the things that I’ve been taught as a Jewish person growing up in a Zionist household, not just taught, but fully endorsed, needed to believe.
