Oracle AI Deal Could Train 50,000 Lebanese Citizens, Minister Says
May 4, 2026
ORACLE DEAL IS OPPORTUNITY TO UPSKILL LEBANESE CITIZENS IN AI 🇱🇧
Lebanon’s first Minister of Technology and AI, Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, is setting the record straight. Amid the noise and controversy surrounding the government’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle, Shehadeh is making it clear: this isn’t about selling out, it’s about leveling up.
The deal, signed in late 2025, is framed as a massive free grant to train 50,000 Lebanese citizens in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity over the next five years. While critics scream about data sovereignty and foreign influence, Shehadeh insists that the focus is strictly on human talent, not government systems.
The goal is to prepare 50,000 students and professionals for the global tech race. If Lebanon wants to survive the future, its people need to speak the language of AI.
Why should Lebanon miss out on world-class training that is already happening elsewhere?
Shehadeh says he’s proud of the work, choosing to invest in the capabilities of the Lebanese people while the skeptics focus on the servers.
