Francesca Albanese Honored by Spain for Her Work on Palestine

NEWS: Pedro Sánchez has awarded Francesca Albanese the Civil Order of Merit, praising her work documenting and denouncing alleged violations of international law in Gaza.
The award was presented on Thursday, with Sánchez commending Albanese’s efforts as the United Nations special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories.
The recognition comes amid rising diplomatic tensions between Spain and Israel following the continued detention of two activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla: Thiago Ávila, a Brazilian national, and Saif Abu Keshek, a Spanish citizen of Palestinian origin.
Sánchez described their detention as a “kidnapping” and called for their immediate release.
