China and Egypt Send 1,000 Tons of Aid to Crisis-Hit Beirut
May 10, 2026
The Port of Beirut became a symbol of hope this week as two massive shipments of humanitarian aid from China and Egypt arrived to support a nation pushed to the brink. As of May 6, 2026, Lebanon’s Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Sayed, confirmed that the country has now received a total of 4,000 tons of supplies through a global response involving 33 countries. While the political world remains locked in debate, these shipments represent a literal lifeline for the hundreds of thousands of families displaced by the ongoing conflict.
Chinese Ambassador Chen Chuandong personally oversaw the handover of two batches of emergency aid on May 4, including food, tents, blankets, and hygiene items. He reaffirmed that China is a “trustworthy friend” that firmly supports Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
Egypt delivered nearly 1,000 tons of urgent relief, including food staples, medical gear, and temporary shelter kits. This effort, spearheaded by the Tahya Misr Fund, was a direct response to the “rapidly evolving” humanitarian disaster on the ground.
Minister Haneen Sayed stressed that while shelters are operating at full capacity, the need remains desperate. Total international aid has reached $248 million, but with nearly a million people displaced, every ton of food counts.
THANK YOU!

So the arrival of actually two shipments, one from China, one from Egypt, totaling over 1000 tons of supplies, that includes mattresses, tents, blankets, sanitation packs and food.
Haneen Sayed: this arrives at a time when the need remains great, and there are many affected or displaced families who still require basic support to help them cope with daily hardships
