The United Nations has doubled its humanitarian funding appeal for Lebanon to $640 million as the country continues to face the devastating consequences of ongoing Israeli attacks and escalating instability.
According to Imran Riza, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, the increased funding is needed to support communities devastated by displacement, destruction and a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis.
Behind the numbers are real people.
Families forced from their homes.
Communities struggling to access healthcare, shelter, food and basic services.
Lebanon was already facing one of the worst economic crises in its history.
Now, entire towns and villages are once again being pushed to the brink.
The fact that humanitarian funding has had to be doubled speaks volumes.
