Bisan Shows Gaza Destruction And Warns Of Growing Toxic Hazards Facing Palestinians
June 21, 2026
Journalist Bisan Owda has highlighted another devastating consequence of Israel’s assault on Gaza: the mountains of rubble, toxic debris and environmental hazards now surrounding Palestinians wherever they go.
Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to wreckage.
Homes.
Schools.
Hospitals.
Roads.
All turned into millions of tonnes of debris that now pose serious health risks to a population already struggling to survive.
“Who is responsible for this dump?” Bisan asks.
And perhaps more importantly:
Who is responsible for cleaning it up?
Children are forced to play among the ruins.
Families walk through toxic debris every day.
And entire communities are being left to live inside what many describe as an environmental catastrophe.
Even after the destruction, they are expected to live with its consequences.
The rubble is not just evidence of what was lost.
It is a warning about what Palestinians will continue to face long after the headlines move on.

Bisan: Hi everyone, how are you? Today I’m going to show you a landscape that you need to see here in Gaza. I’m now in the west of Gaza city in Al-Shati refugee camp and this is what I want to show you. This is the destruction of Al-Shati refugee camp. We are now in Shamali which is the north of Al-Shati. This is the street cutting from other lands and starting from there this is the massive destruction of Al-Shati and then the huge refugee camps for people used to live in Al-Shati. This is the sea and there is the Israeli occupation. These are our our occupied lands. Okay? But most importantly, look at this. This was a hotel and then this in front of it is a rubble dump. This rubble dump is an environmental hazard and it doesn’t take into account when the wind is coming from the north carrying all the gun powder, all the dust, all the bad smells to here, to the people living here. All of the people living in tents and here it’s always dusty and toxic. It’s toxic here. It doesn’t take into account how it’s increasing the amount of rats because it’s just there. It’s run by NGOS and I just don’t want to see my people sitting without being able to do anything because we don’t have any other options. This is against the dignity, the thing that accept what has been doing because no one else can do anything else. This needs to be calculated better, it needs to be away from the people and if you are going to do something for the rubble, you got to coordinate with the Israelis and take it behind the yellow line or even in farther places, from the people who are already crowded in open massive destroyed areas. Okay?
