Australian MP Exposes Alleged Israeli Surveillance Technology Used by NSW Police

YOUR PHONE. YOUR PRIVATE MESSAGES. YOUR PHOTOS. YOUR LIFE.

Higginson has sounded the alarm over the use of Israeli-made phone extraction technology by NSW Police, warning that proposed changes backed by Premier Chris Minns could dramatically expand surveillance powers while weakening long-standing protections for ordinary Australians.
Currently, police generally require a Digital Evidence Access Order (DEAO) linked to a search warrant before forcing someone to unlock their device.
She warns that once governments gain extraordinary surveillance powers, those powers rarely shrink, they expand.
Today it’s justified in the name of security.
Tomorrow it could be used against protesters, journalists, whistleblowers and political dissidents.
Sue Higginson deserves enormous credit for bringing attention to an issue many Australians may never have heard about until it was too late.
