UN Inquiry Finds Israel Guilty of Genocide Against Children in Gaza Says Commission Chair Srinivasan Muralidhar
June 24, 2026
GENEVA— A landmark United Nations independent commission of inquiry has found that Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children, committing acts that amount to genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. According to the report, at least 20,179 children were killed in the Gaza Strip between October 7, 2023, and October 7, 2025—accounting for roughly 30% of the conflict’s overall death toll.
The UN inquiry concluded that the “sheer number” of targeted instances, precision gunfire patterns, and the systematic destruction of healthcare, starvation blockades, and reproductive care facilities collectively establish a clear genocidal intent to destroy the biological continuity of the Palestinian people. Investigators noted that children continued to be killed even after the October 2025 ceasefire came into effect. In response, Israel’s mission in Geneva vehemently rejected the findings, dismissing the text as a “defamatory advocacy report” and a “libelous sham” while maintaining that Israeli forces consistently strive to minimize harm to civilians.
