THEY WERE BABIES. THEY WERE CHILDREN. THEY WERE NEVER THE TARGET THEY WERE CLAIMED TO BE.
Ahmed Mohsen Al-Ragab was killed after an Israeli drone strike hit Al-Taybeh Camp in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Several others, including children, were also reported injured.
Al-Mawasi has repeatedly been presented as a place where displaced families could seek refuge. Instead, grieving parents continue to bury their children there. Ahmed should have been playing. Laughing.
Dreaming about his future.
Instead, his name has been added to the growing list of children whose lives have ended before they truly began.
How many more refugee camps will become graveyards?
Ahmed Mohsen Al-Ragab should be remembered as more than a statistic.
He was a child.
He had a name.
And he deserved the chance to grow up.
