Iran Nuclear Deal Under Threat as U.S. Launches New Strikes and Iran Retaliates

Hassan Ahmadian, Academic at the University of Tehran, believes the recent U.S. strikes on Iran may signal an attempt by Washington to back away from the memorandum of understanding signed by President Donald Trump just 10 days ago to end the conflict.
According to Ahmadian, Article 5 of the agreement gave Iran and Oman the responsibility of arranging the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait. He argues that Washington is now demanding a different arrangement while still expecting Iran to honor its side of the deal.
A peace deal that was supposed to stop the war is now on the brink of collapse.
