Judge Orders Trump Administration to Release Unredacted Epstein Files in Major Court Ruling
June 29, 2026
THEY FOUGHT TO KEEP THE FILES HIDDEN. THE COURT SAID NO.
A major legal victory has been handed to journalist and legal analyst Katie Phang after a federal judge ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to release additional unredacted Jeffrey Epstein records or explain in court why they are still being withheld. The DOJ has said it plans to appeal.
Phang sued the Justice Department, arguing it had failed to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act by withholding documents and applying excessive redactions. A federal judge agreed she had standing to bring the case and rejected the DOJ’s argument that she should rely solely on Freedom of Information Act requests.
The ruling could force the release of additional records that have remained out of public view, or require the government to publicly justify every remaining redaction.
This isn’t just about Jeffrey Epstein.
It’s about transparency.
It’s about accountability.
And it’s about whether governments can decide what the public is allowed to know.
Millions have demanded answers for years.
Now, the pressure is back on.
