A single child against a war machine. It is one of the most defining images of resistance in human history. 15-year-old Faris Odeh stood completely alone, facing down a multi-ton Israeli tank with nothing but a stone in his hand.
Faris didn’t have an army, armor, or international backing. He had a rock, a fierce love for his homeland, and an unyielding refusal to bow to military occupation. Just days after this iconic photograph was taken in November 2000, Faris was targeted and shot dead by Israeli forces near the Karni crossing in Gaza.
Decades later, the corporate media and Western politicians continue to censor the reality of the occupation, but they can never erase the courage of Faris Odeh. His spirit lives on in every generation that refuses to stay silent in the face of ethnic cleansing and apartheid.
