Why Was Muammar Gaddafi Killed? Louis Farrakhan Explains the Libya War
July 27, 2026
In this powerful address, Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, exposes the economic and geopolitical reasons behind the 2011 NATO-backed overthrow of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Under Gaddafi, Libya had zero national debt, while citizens received free education (from kindergarten through college), free healthcare, housing access, and annual oil revenue stipends.
Gaddafi spent billions founding the African Union and financed a $300M Pan-African communications satellite that eliminated European telecommunication monopolies over Africa.
Gaddafi was establishing an African Development Bank with $70 billion in Libyan oil reserves to offer interest-free loans across the continent—threatening Western financial dominance.
Was actively planning a $1 billion Caribbean Development Bank in St. Kitts to foster economic independence across the African diaspora.
They didn’t target him because of his domestic policies…they targeted him because an economically independent Africa threatened Western hegemony.
“He had no debt. Everything in his country was paid for. Education was free, healthcare was free, and he was funding an interest-free African Development Bank to free the continent from the IMF”, he said.
An independent, self-funded Africa was a threat to global financial control.
