Australian Singer Iyah May Releases Pro-Palestine Song After Industry Backlash
August 3, 2026
Australian singer-songwriter Iyah May (@iyahmayhem ) was dropped by her record label and management after refusing to censor her lyrics calling out war in Gaza, corporate greed, and systemic corruption.
Instead of backing down or apologizing, she went fully independent—and her fans pushed her music straight to the top of the charts.
Her label demanded she tone down lyrics targeting global elite power, political corruption, and violence in Gaza—she refused and walked away from her contract.
Without major label backing or industry support, her music went viral purely through listener support and word of mouth.
You can’t cancel an artist when the people have their back.
THANK YOU!!

Iyah May: Hey, my name is Iyah May. I’m a music artist from Australia. When I began speaking out through my music about a year and a half ago, the backlash came almost immediately. I lost my management contract after calling out the Israeli government. I sing about the corruption of the World Health Organization doctor Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates and the Deep State. I received death threats, was investigated by the Australian Medical Board for allegedly spreading misinformation, while I also continued working as a medical doctor. I watched support from mainstream radio, the media and the music industry all but disappear rather than changing the message of my songs. I’ve left my major music label and now I self-fund everything I create fully independently. So I’ve recently built something on my website called The Citizens, and you can join it if you want to. All of that support is going towards helping me make more music and music videos without anyone’s permission, but ours. The censorship, the gatekeepers I can get out of my way. My music is for anyone who’s felt silenced and unseen. My songs are for those who felt alone for questioning the system. I believe we are in a really special and important time, where it’s our individual voices and our support towards each other that are making waves around the world. It’s up to us to stand against these corrupt and bought out, lobbied institutions that put profit over people. And I think it’s so important to remember that at the end of the day, the power is with the people. It’s with us. Together, we can become a truly fierce community that creates real and beautiful change. Thank you for supporting me. I wouldn’t be doing this without you guys. We need to use this system to beat the system from within the system, to fuck the system. Because fuck the system.
