Former King Charles III Adviser Sir Jonathon Porritt Arrested Over Support for Palestine Action
August 4, 2026
WHEN DID SUPPORTING PALESTINE BECOME TERRORISM?
Sir Jonathon Porritt, who served as an adviser to King Charles III for three decades before his accession to the throne, was arrested outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court under the UK Terrorism Act after publicly expressing support for Palestine Action, a group that has since been proscribed as a terrorist organization by the UK government.
As police led him away, Porritt declared:
“I am a supporter of Palestine Action. Trying to save lives is not terrorism. Exposing this government’s complicity in genocide is not terrorism.”
Over 150 peaceful protesters were arrested outside Westminster Magistrates Court for standing in solidarity against the proscription of Palestine Action.
When peaceful opposition is criminalized as terrorism, fundamental rights are on the line.
