Ben-Gurion Diary Entry Describes Rape and Killing of Arab Girl by Israeli Soldiers
August 31, 2026“THEY WASHED HER. CUT HER HAIR. RAPED HER. KILLED HER.”
Those are not the words of a modern commentator.
They come from the 1949 diary of David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister, describing what he called a “horrific atrocity” committed against a young Bedouin girl by Israeli soldiers in the Negev.
For decades, her fate remained buried in classified files and whispered accounts.
Then, previously classified military documents—reported by Haaretz and later covered by The Guardian—revealed the details of the crime.
According to those reports, the teenage girl was captured, publicly humiliated, repeatedly raped by soldiers over several days, and ultimately executed before being buried in a shallow grave in the desert.
Her name was never recorded.
Her family never received justice.
History almost erased her.
Justice begins with telling the truth, no matter how many decades have passed.
