Harrowing testimony from IDF soldier Neta Zilberstein and her mother has exposed an institutional culture of unchecked sexual harassment, abuse, and systematic cover-ups within Israeli military ranks.
Zilberstein recounted months of relentless harassment by an armored battalion commander during operations along the Lebanon border—reaching a point where she felt safer being shelled in her tent than entering a tank with her commander. When she tried to file a formal complaint, senior officers forced her to destroy the evidence, telling her: “Leave it, it’s fine. Delete the messages, he has a family.”
The figures cited in the report are staggering: 2,420 complaints of sexual harassment were recorded in the IDF in 2025.
An army can call itself “moral.”
Its treatment of those who report abuse is where that claim is truly tested. An institution that systematically shields internal predators cannot claim moral authority anywhere in the world.
