As highlighted by Greene, corporate media outlets have largely buried the vote, which passed 237–169 with 33 Democrats crossing party lines to join Republicans in leveraging taxpayer dollars to punish higher education institutions for constitutional political expression.

Josh Greene: Disturbing news. Congress has just voted to ban colleges from boycotting Israel, or they won’t receive any federal funding anymore. The House of Representatives just voted to deny federal funding to any university that decides not to do business with the State of Israel, Israeli companies or Israeli institutions. This is obviously a massive violation of the First Amendment, a massive attack on freedom of speech. But anything to protect our greatest ally known as Israel, even though they shouldn’t be our ally, period. We should never do business with this country. Period. This comes as the president is sleepwalking us into World War three. This comes war crimes are being committed by the US and Israeli governments. This comes as college campuses are rising up in protest of this, because students are smart and students want to build a future for America, not destroy a future for children overseas.
