Chris Hedges: AIPAC Critics Will Pay a Price for Speaking Out
September 8, 2026
On episode #249 of Robinson’s Podcast, Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign correspondent Chris Hedges (@the.chris.hedges.report ) breaks down the raw, corrupt mechanics of how foreign lobbying cash completely controls Washington’s foreign policy.
Discussing themes from his book A Genocide Foretold, Hedges lays bare how the Israel lobby uses its massive financial apparatus to systematically buy off politicians while relentlessly destroying anyone who dares step out of line: “Because the Israel lobby is quite wealthy and because it bought most of our elected officials… if you stand up to them, like Jamaal Bowman, where they spent $11 million to get him ousted—they will punish you.”
From Joe Biden taking more AIPAC cash than any senator in history, to spending $11M to unseat Rep. Jamaal Bowman, the lobby relies on pure financial intimidation.
If you vote against foreign weapons or challenge war crimes, millions are dumped to destroy your career.

Interviewer: How does this small country exert such pressure on the United States? How do they…
Chris Hedges: Because the Israel lobby is quite wealthy and because it bought most of our elected officials. Biden received more money from AP than any other U.S. senator. He owes a record, and he wasn’t in the senate for, what, ten years? 12? I don’t know how long it’s been. And if you stand up to them like Jamaal Bowman, they spent $11 million to get him ousted from his House seat. That’s a long track record. I mean, they pushed out Fulbright. Fulbright held hearings about AIPAC raising money as a nonprofit. and I can’t remember the exact details, but they mounted a fierce campaign to push Fulbright out of the Senate. And they succeeded. So it’s not new to challenge the Israel lobby, given the deep pockets of the Israeli lobby is, you know, they will punish you. You will get pushed out and it’s money.
