UK Bans Israeli Settlement Goods as Ed Miliband Condemns “Ethnic Cleansing” of Palestinians

Not an activist. Not a protester. The British Foreign Secretary in the UK Parliament.
In an unprecedented shift in Western diplomacy, UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband officially declared a trade ban on all goods originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, calling out the state-backed settler violence and forced displacement for what it truly is: ethnic cleansing.
Miliband said there had been houses bulldozed, roads and public infrastructure destroyed, families displaced from their homes and called it exactly what it is.
Israel’s response? Threatening to close the British consulate in Jerusalem.
Banning settlement goods is a overdue first step, but until full arms embargoes and sanctions are slapped on the entire occupation apparatus, state violence will not stop.
