TEHRAN RUNNERS STAGE RARE PUBLIC DISPLAY OF DEFIANCE
Hundreds of women ran unveiled through Tehran, in what was described as one of the most significant public displays of defiance since the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests.
The scenes came as veiled women also took to the streets in the capital on the same day, marching in support of the government and its war effort.
The contrasting demonstrations highlighted the deep divisions over women’s rights, government policy and the direction of Iran amid the country’s ongoing tensions.
