Jason Eaton Found Guilty of Attempted Murder in Shooting of 3 Palestinian Students

A man stepped out and shot all three of them at point-blank range. Hisham Awartani was left paralyzed from the waist down. His two friends were also wounded.
The shooter, Jason Eaton, never denied pulling the trigger. His defense tried insanity — claiming he believed he was a CIA operative acting on orders from the CIA and Mossad. The jury didn’t buy it. Guilty, on all three counts, in under two hours.
No hate crime charge was ever filed — despite Eaton’s own hateful comments about the three men being read aloud in court, despite Hisham saying plainly: “I knew why I was targeted. It was obviously because of who I am and my heritage.”
Three years of surgery, recovery, and waiting for this exact moment. Hisham’s mother said it best: “Justice has been rendered.” It doesn’t undo what was taken. But it says, on the record, that he was right, and that it mattered.
